WARREN Ross has been sentenced to 40 years jail for the bashing murder of toddler Tanilla Warrick-Deaves.
Ross, 32, bashed, abused and tortured Tanilla Warwick-Deaves, the daughter of his then partner Donna Deaves up until her death inside her Watanobbi home in August 2011.
He will be eligible for parole in September 2041.
In sentencing Ross, Judge Stephen Rothma said Tanilla’s murder was ‘approaching’ the worst category.
“There is no doubt this murder was particularly heinous,” Justice Rothman said
Justice Rothman said Ross had “not expressed any regret” or remorse, and “continues to assert his innocence.”
Ross’ mother screamed out “I’ll be dead. What about his kids?” as the sentence was fixed, while her killer son sneered at Adrian Warwick, Tanilla’s biological father, from the dock “see you in there, Adrian.”.
The Supreme Court was packed with members of the Ross family, including Warwick, while riot police were also on hand to keep tensions in check.
During the sentencing, Mr Warwick and his partner Brooke became distressed when Ross began signalling to them from the dock.
Extra sheriffs were inside the courtroom, after previous outbursts by Ross during the verdict and sentencing hearing
