General Morshead was highly sceptical of the efficacy of the many ruses used to create illusions of strength and wished to see more attention given to getting the men ready to fight. He noted in his private diary: I am sick to death about the importance attached to prestige and the flying of the flag. All to impress wogs and doubtful Free French!
