From: AAP - January 09, 2006
Eight people committed suicide in New South Wales hospitals and 134 more took their own lives within a month of contacting mental health services, an annual report released today has found. Opposition health spokeswoman Jillian Skinner said Premier Morris Iemma should admit the health system was in crisis.
"Premier Iemma has admitted that more needs to be done in mental health care," said Ms Skinner.
"What he really needs to do is acknowledge that there is a real crisis in health care generally and hospitals in particular."
